Mesut Ozil (left) and Alexis Sanchez are set for new deal, it has been reported
Arsenal are "not in a hurry" to tie down Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil to new deals, according to Arsene Wenger.
Reoprts in several national newspapers on Thursday claimed Sanchez will be offered a bumper five-year contract to fend off interest from Manchester United.
Similar stories about Ozil were published earlier in the week, but Wenger says there is no urgency to secure the futures of the two most expensive players in Arsenal's history.
"We have not started to talk about that with Mesut Ozil," he said, speaking at his press conference ahead of Saturday's trip to West Brom. "[Sanchez] is the same situation - at the end of the year they have two-and-a-half years' contract.
"We have some time. We are not in a hurry. We want of course for them to stay in the club, adn we'll start negotiations at some stage, but at the moment we have not started."
Ozil this month became the first Premier League player to register an assist in six straight games, while Sanchez has added seven goals this season to the 25 he scored in his first year at the club.
And former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes Wenger will already be working behind the scenes to keep both players.
He told Sky Sports News HQ: "They don't want to let people get to the last year of their contracts.
"It will be big, big money they have to sign them for, but these are the times...it's what Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea do, and they've got to compete."
Sky Sports commentator Alan Smith this week suggested Sanchez could be rested at The Hawthorns, but Wenger is still without attacking options Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Walcott's calf injury will keep him out for "one or two weeks more", according to Wenger, while neither Ramsey nor Oxlade-Chamberlain (both hamstring), will play this weekend.
Full-back Hector Bellerin does return from a groin injury, but Wenger will check on Laurent Koscielny, who played for France against England on Tuesday and was visibly upset in the wake of the Paris attacks.
"You could see that on Tuesday night he was not himself," Wenger said. "It affected him deeply and I didn't recognise the player I saw on Friday night on Tuesday night.
"I will talk with him. What I will want from him is that he's completely committed and feels ready. If not, I will not play him."
