Dolce & Gabbana Releases A Collection Of Hijabs And Abayas
It's about time.
Lately, the fashion world has finally realized the impact Muslim women have on the industry. Fortune estimatesthat in 2013 alone, Muslims spent $266 billion on clothing and footwear, a number they expect to reach $484 billion by 2019. Brands like Oscar de la Renta and Tommy Hilfiger recently created women’s collections for Ramadan, and now Dolce & Gabbana has released its first abaya collection.
The photos of the collection, released on Style.com’s Arabian site, show lacy, embellished hijabs and abayas paired with luxe sunglasses and handbags.
The line is another step toward dispelling the idea that conservative clothing can’t be fashion-forward since it’s pretty obvious that these abayas are anything but boring. You can check out the full collection here.
